Save The Shuttle Fever Spreads

State senators backing request to extend space shuttle program

"Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Mobile, agreed with the letter's intent and called for a cessation of Russian hostility to its neighbors. He said he fears the 15-year-old joint U.S.-Russian space station agreement could end if relations continued to slide, he said. "If Russia continues to act irresponsibly, our partnership in space will have to end. If that occurs, we will need to maintain our own launch capability in the future," Sessions said. The letter called for support of the Ares program, the Orion crew capsule and for support for commercial rockets, such as the Delta IV manufactured by the United Launch Alliance in Decatur."

Hey US Congress...Make up your mind. Either keep that flying death trap flying and provide adequate funding or scrap it! Either get behind a new manned launch system and provide adequate funding or scrap that and don't whine when the US COngress can't make up it's mind and use or don;t use Soyuz since NASA had been budgeted in fits and starts.

Thank you, Senators. Now, it's time for you all to stand up and act like the legislators that you're supposed to be. Instead of meekly writing a letter to President Bush asking for an extension, TELL him you're providing to NASA the money for which he promised but never asked.

Somebody has to stand up, take charge, and do the right thing. Since the Bush Administration won't, you should.

The Shuttle, though far from perfect, is the best that the world has yet seen. Nobody has anything nearly as good. I'd go up in it in a heartbeat.
I never understood why we had such a neat spacecraft and never went on at least one circumlunar trip.
The ISS is great, but nothing like it could have been.
This country's lead in space exploration technology is a critical part of national security.
